NEW YORK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Prince Rahim Aga Khan V on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and appreciated his commitment to continued cooperation toward shared development goals.
The prime minister warmly welcomed Prince Rahim Aga Khan and recalled his meeting with him during the Aga Khan’s visit to Pakistan earlier this year.
Prime Minister Shehbaz appreciated Prince Rahim’s commitment to maintaining Pakistan’s longstanding friendly and positive relations and continuing close cooperation to promote peace, stability and development.
He also acknowledged the longstanding contributions of the Ismaili community to Pakistan’s socioeconomic development and highlighted its tradition of public service and civic engagement.
The prime minister praised institutions associated with the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) for their contributions to financial inclusion and the promotion of tourism. He emphasized the importance of exploring further opportunities for cooperation in these areas.
Prince Rahim Aga Khan thanked the prime minister for his warm sentiments and acknowledged his efforts toward regional peace and stability. He also expressed his commitment to further strengthening the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and the AKDN.
Prime Minister Shehbaz also invited Prince Rahim Aga Khan to continue making regular visits to Pakistan.
