Protesters ask govt to declare Mastuj as a district

PESHAWAR, Nov 27: A large number of people from upper Chitral here on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration demanding the government should declare Mastuj as a district without further delay. The protest was organized by Tanzeem Haqooq-e-Chitral. Holding banners and placards inscribed with demands for upgradation of the tehsil to district level, the participants shouted slogans in favour of their demands. Dozens of residents of Mustuj gathered outside Peshawar Press Club and shouted slogans against provincial and federal governments for showing delaying tactics in fulfilling their genuine demand. Talking to reporters, the organization’s central chairman Sadiq Ameen said the government should give district status to subdivision Mastuj immediately to pave way for the employment of educated youth.  He said the provincial government had upgraded different tehsils to the district status and that was why the people of Mastuj also expected the same favour so that this backward area could be brought at par with the rest of developed ones. “I appeal to Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti to pay attention to the matter and remove the unrest among the people as it was a long awaited demand and none of the successive government had so far considered it as serious,” he said.]]>
