PML-Q joins hands with Sunni Tehreek for elections
ISLAMABAD, Nov 27 (APP): Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) and Sunni Ittehad Council on Tuesday announced an election alliance, with leaders of both the political parties to carry forward the alliance to formation of a grand alliance. “PML’s alliance with Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) will remain intact and positive headway will be made for grand alliance with parties having national thinking in all the four provinces,” said a press release issued here quoting the Pakistan Muslim League President Senator Ch Shujat Hussain as telling reporters in Faisalabad along with Sunni Ittehad Council leader Maulana Fazal Karim, MNA. On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi, Sunni Ittehad Council Chairman and Jamiatul Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan head Sahibzada Fazal Karim and Secretary General Sunni Ittehad Council Haji Hanif Tayyab also spoke to the press after final round of talks between both the parties. PML’s Moonis Elahi, Muhammad Basharat Raja and Ch Zaheeruddin Khan and Sunni Ittehad Council’s Peer Akram Qadri, Moeenuddin, Fazal Ayyaz, Nawaz Khokhar and Hamid Raza also participated in the talks. “We will remain united for enforcement of Nizam-e-Mustafa (Peace Be Upon Him), security and betterment of the people and supremacy of Islamic Republic of Pakistan and will fully participate in the elections under a joint strategy and seat adjustment,” they said. Ch Shujat Hussain said that the country was facing various problems and no individual, no single political party, court or general could resolve these problems single handedly, and all national forces will have to work together sincerely for solving the problems facing Pakistan. “The PML will move ahead along with Sunni Ittehad Council and we will invite more religious and political parties to join this caravan,” he added. Ch Parvez Elahi said that this alliance was the result of our one year’s long talks and they had dedicated this alliance to security of Pakistan and prosperity of the people. “The alliance of both the parties will greatly benefit the poor people of Pakistan because we have gathered under a joint strategy. This alliance is also the alliance for restoring enforcement of Nizam-e-Mustafa (Peace be upon Him),” he added. Replying to a question, Ch Parvez Elahi said every party claims to make the province a welfare state and N-League do not even know the meaning of welfare state. “We started 1122 and 14 other projects in the Punjab for the first time in the history of the country and provided the proof for making the province a welfare state. N-League cannot compete with us in services to the people that is why I keep challenging Shahbaz Sharif repeatedly that come and make a comparison of his and my tenures. We have always taken care of the poor and their children, we gave the Ring Road plan for the development of Faisalabad but N-League also closed it,” he added. Replying to another question, he said that the elections will be held on time. Ch Parvez Elahi strongly condemned planting of a bomb in the car of senior journalist Hamid Mir. Replying to questions from the media people, he said that during his tenure the assemblies had completed their tenure and now present assemblies should also complete their constitutional term which will be a good omen for democracy. He said further that this alliance was not just of two parties or for someone’s personal benefit. “We would form a grand alliance with other parties and take practical steps for progress, development and prosperity of Pakistan adding that we will give a very big surprise in future, this is only a beginning in this regard”. In response to another question, Ch Parvez Elahi said perhaps none would like to go with the N-League, in politics and alliance positive attitudes, equal treatment, courage to tolerate, mutual respect are very important and misunderstandings do not arise. Sahibzada Fazal Karim said that this alliance has come into existence for supremacy of Holy Quran and Sunnah for enforcement of Nizam-e-Mustafa in the Motherland and they will also continue struggle together with those parties which are nearer to our cause.]]>
