Dr Javed Iqbal and family on Chitral visit

Report Waqar Ahmad CHITRAL, April 25: Justice retired Dr Javed Iqbal, his wife Justice Rtd. Nasira Iqbal and their daughter are on three-day visit to Chitral. Niaz A Niazi Advocate, chairman Human Rights Commission Chitral, hosted a reception in the honour of the distinguished guests at a local hotel. The reception was attended by a large number of people belonging to different walks of life, including Shahzada Sirajul Mulk, Sahib Nadir Advocate, Abdul Wali Advocate, Professor Syed Shamsun Nazar Hashmi, Sahibuddin Pricipal Government Postgraduate Commerce College, Maulana Habibullah and eminent educationist Mola Nigah Nigah. Speaking on the occasion, Justice  Javed Iqbal said that his father Allama Muhammad Iqbal had given an innovative and progressive vision to Muslim Umma decades ago, through his revolutionary poetry, unfortunately instead of following the progressive and all inclusive principles of Islam we have kept them in back burner and that is the root case of the decline of Muslim civilization. Addressing the gathering Justice Nasira Iqbal said rising trend of suicide among Chitrali women is a matter of great concern for all. She said the cases behind this trend should be investigated and remedial measures should be taken forth with to do away with this menace. She added that Chitral has great potential to progress in walks of life having peaceful environment and high literacy rate. Manager Trocaire Imtiaz Ahmad, gave a presentation and highlighted various cases of suicide among women in Chitral. Maulana Habibullah also spoke on the occasion.]]>
