BREP: At a protest gathering here, people of Brep, Istach, Dizg, Khruzg, Birzoz and other villages asked the elected representatives of Chitral to play their role in getting appointment of people from lower Chitral as Class IV in the dispensaries and other health centres in their areas.
They said PTI leaders in Lower Chitral and elected representatives should inform them who were behind the appointments of outsiders in their areas ignoring the local youth even those who had given free of cost land for the establishment of the health centre.
The public gathering was arranged by PTI Upper Chitral leder Zar Bahar Khan. The participants said if the government and the ruling party leaders failed to get the appointments cancelled by Feb 29, the people of Yarkhun would start protest demonstrations along with their family members, including women.
They said it was a robbery on the rights on the people of Yarkhun and other areas of Upper Chitral that even Class IV jobs were not being given to them in their home villages.
They said this injustice would not be tolerated and the government should cancel the appointments without any further delay.
The participants also alleged that the communication and works (C&W) department was planning to spend only Rs0.7 million of the Rs60 million allocated by ACTED, a foreign funded NGO, on the construction of a bridge over Chumarkhan Gol in Chapali.
The meeting demanded that the government should utilize all the funds provided by the NGO on the construction of the bridge to ensure its durability and quality. The bridge is on the road linking Brep and other areas of Yarkhun with other parts of Chitral.
The participants also demanded that the government should open a branch of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and a NADRA office in Brep as the local people have to go to Mastuj and Booni for routine work related to the bank and NADRA.
