Chitrali man arrested in murder case

ISLAMABAD, Jan 29: The Rawalpindi police have arrested a Chitrali man allegedly involved in murder of a man from Swabi district in connivance with a friend from Jhelum. Reports said Jamshed Ahmed, a resident of Chuinj village in upper Chitral, currently working with Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto University (SZABIST), was arrested along with his friend Waheed Tabsum of Jhelum for allegedly killing the man from Swabi over a monetary dispute. According to initial reports, Waheed Tabssum had to pay Rs400,000 loan to the man from Swabi but due to consistent delay in making the payment, he was forcibly taken to Swabi by the man. However, the reports said he was taken back to Islamabad with the help of Jamshed who is believed to be a close friend of the man from Jhelum. Jamshed reportedly pledging his car in case of non-payment. But within a few days, the man from Swabi was killed by some unknown assailants in Rawalindi for which the relatives of the victims nominated Waheed Tabasum and Jamshed in the FIR. The case was registered under Section 302 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against both the friends by the Pirwadhai police. They were later produced before a local magistrate who sent them on a three-day judicial remand. Talking to ChitralToday, Javed Ahmed, a close relative of Jamshed, said Jamshed had helped his friend only on the basis of human sympathy by pledging his own vehicle. He also said Jamshed had nothing to with both the parties. “We, Chitralis are peaceful people and cannot even think of killing an innocent person. The people of Chitral will never ever resort to such an extreme step,” he maintained. He appealed to the authorities to thoroughly investigate the matter and bring the real culprits to book, saying an innocent person must not be punished for the crime which he had not committed. The SHO of Pirwadhai police station could not be contacted for comment on the case.  ]]>
