Flash Flood Blocks Chitral Road at Kalkatak

Drosh, May 20, 2026: A sudden flash flood blocked the main road at Kalkatak in Drosh, disrupting traffic on the Peshawar–Chitral route and leaving long queues of vehicles stranded.

Passengers reportedly remained stuck for several hours as debris and floodwater continue to obstruct the road, causing severe inconvenience to travelers.

In the absence of an immediate official response, local residents and passengers started clearing the road on their own in an effort to restore traffic flow.

However, no machinery from the National Highway Authority (NHA) or the district administration reached the site, raising concerns over delays in response.

It may be noted that thousands of people, mostly Ismailis, are travelling from different places to Chitral for the Didar of their Imam His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan from May 23 to 25.
