Special Correspondent

Islamabad is filled with enthusiasm, pride, and anticipation as the capital prepares to host highly important and historic talks aimed at promoting global peace.

After six weeks of war, the United States and Iran are now planning the most senior meeting between the two countries since the Islamic Republic of Iran was founded in 1979, according to a report in CNN.

Pakistan is set to host the US-Iran talks on Saturday, following a two-week Pakistan-brokered ceasefire, bringing a pause in the hostilities which broke out on February 28.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has confirmed Tehran’s participation in Pakistan-brokered peace talks with the United States in Islamabad to finalise a peaceful settlement to the conflict.

The US also confirmed its participation in the talks, with the White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt saying that the US was dispatching a team of negotiators led by US Vice President JD Vance and including US Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Islamabad, with the “first round” taking place on Saturday.

The capital city is witnessing a strong and vibrant spirit of celebration, excitement, and renewed optimism, reflecting what officials describe as the success of Pakistan’s consistent, tireless, and forward-looking diplomatic efforts.
Across the capital, large banners, public displays of welcome, and organized messages of reception highlight the nation’s sincere, warm, and deeply passionate commitment, along with the leadership’s continued and determined efforts to promote dialogue, mutual understanding, and lasting peace at the global level.
The Islamabad Talks are being widely viewed as a reflection of the leadership’s principled vision, constructive diplomacy, and meaningful international engagement, marking what many are calling a landmark achievement that has filled the entire country with immense pride, honor, and satisfaction.
Meanwhile, comprehensive, stringent, and multi-layered security arrangements have been put in place across the federal capital to ensure foolproof safety for the visiting delegations and the smooth, uninterrupted conduct of the high-level meetings. Key sensitive areas, including the Red Zone and surrounding high-security zones, have been placed under enhanced surveillance, with a significant deployment of security personnel at all strategic entry and exit points.
Authorities have further intensified round-the-clock patrolling, established additional security checkpoints, and placed all relevant law enforcement agencies on high alert across the capital.

Close coordination among multiple security institutions has been strengthened to ensure seamless movement of foreign delegations from airports to designated venues, while advanced monitoring systems, surveillance technologies, and command-and-control mechanisms are being actively utilized to maintain continuous vigilance throughout the city.
