Chitral, April 8, 2026: A road traffic accident in Ashiret village of Lower Chitral claimed the lives of two children and injured three others, Rescue 1122 said on Wednesday.
The children were students of Govt High School Ashiret. The Bedford truck plunged into Kochhan Gol reportedly due to a brake failure. The truck was travelling from Chitral to Peshawar and on way it had picked the local children returning from school.
According to Rescue 1122, a rescue team reached the site and provided first aid to the injured children on the spot and later shifted them to THQ Hospital Drosh.
Rescue 1122 in a statement confirmed that five children were on board the vehicle at the time of the accident. One child died on the spot, while another passed away later in hospital.
The remaining three children were also injured and were transported to the hospital by Rescue 1122 ambulances after receiving initial medical treatment.
The truck driver and his helper were also injured in the accident.
