Over 262,000 Tourists Visited KP During Eid: KPCTA

PESHAWAR, March 24, 2026: A large number of domestic and foreign tourists visited Chitral during the Eidul Fitr holidays this year:

According to the Lower Chitral police, seven foreign tourists visited Chitral while the number of those visiting Chitral from other parts of Pakistan during the Eid holidays stood at 14,200.

Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA), along with the DPO Murree, released data on tourist arrivals during the three-day Eidul Fitr holiday.

According to the DG of the Tourism Authority, more than 262,000 tourists visited Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during Eid. The Swat Valley attracted the highest number, with over 186,000 visitors, while the Galiyat region recorded 51,886 tourists. Additionally, 76 foreign tourists were present across various tourist spots.

In Murree, the DPO reported that 74,196 vehicles entered the area during the three-day holiday, with a total of approximately 375,000 tourists. Out of these, 15,728 vehicles stayed overnight. On the first day of Eid, 17,716 vehicles entered, while 10,038 left, and 1,640 vehicles stayed within the city.

Tourism police canceled their holidays to ensure smooth operations, and authorities reported that traffic and security plans were successfully implemented. The situation remained peaceful, with no untoward incidents during the holiday.

This year also saw a 48.8% decrease in traffic congestion compared to the previous year, reflecting better management and planning at popular tourist destinations.
