Two young sisters drown in Mulkhow Morder on Eidul Fitr 2026.

Eid Turns Heartbreaking in Two Villages of Upper Chitral

Booni, March 24, 2026: Eidul Fitr celebrations this year took a sorrowful turn in Upper Chitral as two separate tragedies shook local communities.

In the first incident, two young sisters – only daughters of Basharatul Islam – tragically fell into a river near Morder village of Mulkhow.

Local sources told ChitralToday that some children were playing along the river when the two sisters, aged about four and six years, started skating on a stone. Unfortunately, both the siblings slipped and fell into the water.

The other children rushed back home and informed about the incident. Locals reached the spit and recovered one of the girl who had passed away. The search for the other was launched.

Rescue 1122 teams in Upper and Lower Chitral have been searching in the river to retrieve the dead body.
In a separate incident, a 22-year-old youth, Faheem, son of the late Sahibgar Shah from Dizg village, was shot dead by a mobile shop owner in Rawalpindi.

Faheem was the sole breadwinner for his mother and younger siblings. Local residents informed his family of the tragedy immediately after Eid prayers, leaving the community in shock and grief.

These heartbreaking events cast a shadow over Eid celebrations. The killer of the youth is still at large with Chitralis in Rawalpindi and Islamabad urging the authorities concerned to arrest the culprit and provide justice to the aggrieved family.
