Speaking at a press conference along with PTI Lower Chitral General Secretary and Tehsil Chairman Drosh Syed Fareed Jan and senior party leaders Ameenul Hassan, Nazeer Ahmed, Ameer Ali and Shafiqur Rehman, he warned that failure to do so would amount to depriving the people of Chitral of their right to development and would be seen as a betrayal of the public mandate through which he was elected with a record majority.

The speakers stated that other accused in the same case had already been acquitted by the court, and according to the law, the case against Abdul Latif should also have been dismissed. However, he was denied this legal right. They added that Abdul Latif was being punished merely for refusing to compromise on his principles and for standing firmly with Imran Khan. They stressed that penalizing Abdul Latif is effectively punishing the entire population of Chitral, a region and community known worldwide for its peaceful nature. They described it as illogical and unjust to target a representative from such a peaceful region under the pretext of unrest.

The PTI leaders remarked that punishing an educated and law-abiding elected representative amounts to a slap in the face of justice and an attempt to push this already underdeveloped area further into deprivation. They cautioned the leadership of all political parties that the treatment being meted out to PTI today could tomorrow be extended to them, urging them to stand up now to safeguard their own political future.Chitral Tourism Guide

They further declared that PTI’s “tigers” are not people who fear oppression, as their leader has taught them the lesson of courage. They are enduring imprisonment and hardships with resolve and steadfastness, without bowing before oppression, and have stepped into the political arena precisely to resist such injustice. They concluded by urging that this press conference should be taken seriously and that their protest be formally recorded.
