CHITRAL, Aug 24, 2025: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a severe weather warning for several districts, including Upper and Lower Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir and Swat.

Heavy rains will continue until August 30. The rain increases the risk of flash floods, river overflows, and landslides. Authorities urge people to stay away from rivers, streams, and hilly springs. Travelers should check road conditions before heading to northern areas. Everyone must follow the latest weather updates.

A cloudburst hit Buner District on August 15. Flash floods killed over 150 people in one hour. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority reported that 30 of the victims were children.

Chitral remains on high alert as rain continues. The district administration of Lower Chitral said that arrangements were ready to meet any emergency situation including shifting people from vulnerable areas such as Shishikoh to temporary tents installed at safer places in coordination with Rescue 1122, police and other departments concerned.

The National Disaster Management Authority has warned citizens to stay cautious. Tourists should avoid northern areas until the weather improves.

Residents and travelers must follow all safety instructions. Vigilance is key to staying safe during the heavy rains.
