DROSH – Chitral Scouts’ Lance Naik Saif-ul-Azam was laid to rest with full military honors in his native village of Madaklasht after he embraced martyrdom while fighting the Indian-backed insurgent group Fitna-e-Khawarij in Ursoon valley along the Afghan border on Sunday.
A large number of local residents, military personnel, and civil officials attended the funeral prayers to honor the fallen soldier. A smartly turned-out contingent of the Chitral Scouts presented a salute, and Commander of the 141 Wing, Lieutenant Colonel Jawad Mehmood, placed a floral wreath on the martyr’s grave on behalf of the Pakistan Army.
While addressing the gathering, Lieutenant Colonel Jawad Mehmood said, “Every soldier aspires to embrace martyrdom — an honor granted to the most fortunate. Saif-ul-Azam defended the homeland with unmatched courage, and his sacrifice fills the entire nation and the Pakistan Army with pride.”
He vowed that the Chitral Scouts would continue to stand like an iron wall at the borders and defeat every enemy threat with strength and resolve.
Former Nazim Sarfaraz Shah, representing the local community, paid tribute to the martyr. “We, the people, stand united with our army,” he said. “Our brother’s sacrifice brings honor to us all, and we will continue to support our forces in defending Pakistan.”
He also condemned Fitna-e-Khawarij and reaffirmed the community’s determination to stand against those who threaten peace and national security.
