CHITRAL: June 24, 2025: Police have taken into protective custody a man for allegedly harassing a woman online by impersonating a senior police officer.
According to reports, the suspect, identified as Zohaib Ali, runs a computer center and a girls hostel in Chitral town.
A chat between the man and the woman recently went viral, sparking outrage among social media users. The conversation allegedly shows the man using his fake identity of a police officer to exert pressure on the woman.
In the chat, the man, a resident of Singur village, was trying to influence the woman to meet him by showing himself as deputy superintendent of police, working undercover for Special Branch.
The police took the man into protective custody during which he claimed that someone had made a fake account with his name on social media.
An official said that an investigation was being conducted to verify the account before registration of a criminal case against the man.
Strict punishment should be given to such person.
