BOONI: Civil Defence Department of Upper Chitral conducted a workshop in Booni to train hotel owners and LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) dealers on how to respond effectively to fire emergencies.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness among business owners about the risks of sudden fire outbreaks and instructed them on practical ways to control such incidents.
Civil Defence Officer Ismail Jan led the session and explained the critical need for every hotel and LPG shop to equip themselves with fire extinguishers, first aid kits, sand buckets, and sacks. He stressed that these tools enable owners and staff to tackle emergencies swiftly and prevent major losses.
The workshop included hands-on demonstrations, where instructors showed participants how to use firefighting equipment and provide basic first aid. The training encouraged a proactive approach to safety among those working in high-risk environments.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance and Planning) Muhammad Anwar praised the Civil Defence Department and highlighted the importance of organizing such timely initiatives. He urged business owners to install fire extinguishers and ensure that all basic safety tools are available at their premises.
Civil Defence instructors, representatives of the bazaar union, and other local stakeholders also participated in the event.
At the end of the workshop, the ADC and other guests distributed certificates among the attendees to recognize their commitment to public safety.
