Merit citation ceremony held at AKES Chitral

CHITRAL (PR): Aga Khan Education Service organized the Merit Citation Ceremony at AKHSS Chitral to honour students, who achieved academic distinction in AKU-EB exam 2024.

Deputy Commissioner Chitral Lower Mohsin Iqbal was chief guest while  Zaffaruddin, President of Council Lower Chitral, presided over the event.

Members of the senior management team of AKES, P, including the guest of honour the CEO AKES,P, Imtiaz Momin, Head of Education AKES,P Aien Shah, General Manager GB&C Brig (R) Khush Muhammad and General Manager Southern Region, Dr. Hina Velji were in attendance.

As many as 37 students from AKHSS Chitral, 34 from AKHSS Kuragh and two students from AKS Chapari were subject high achievers in annual examination 2024, who received achievement certificates during the ceremony. Whereas, 6 provincial level board toppers were from AKHSS, Chitral and 8 students were provincial level toppers in AKHSS, Kuragh.

The board toppers students in HSSC level from AKHSS, Kuragh including Aila Asad D/O Asad Wali Khan first position at provincial level in HSSC-II and first position Group wise (Pre-medical) HSSC-II, Khushi Noor D/O Noor Muhammad Khan, 2nd position at Provincial level in HSSC-II and 2nd position group wise (Pre-medical) in HSSC-II, Ashfin Gul D/O Gul Safeed Khan, 3rd position at Provincial level in HSSC-II and Mahpara Mehvish D/O Haji Murad, 2nd position at Provincial level Group Wise (Pre-Engineering) received their shields during the ceremony. The SSC Level toppers from AKHSS Kuragh, including Afifa Amir D/O Amir Wali Shah, 2nd position at provincial level in SSC-II and Arifa Khushnood D/O Muhammad Yousuf, 2nd position at provincial level group wise in SSC-II also received their awards either in person or through their family members in attendance.

The two board toppers from AKHSS Chitral in HSSC level including Fardad Ali S/O Ali Nizar, first position at provincial level (Pre-Engineering), Sana Ullah S/O Aman Ullah, 3rd position at provincial level in HSSC-II, and Siraj Wali Khan S/O Muhammad Nadir Khan, 3rd position at provincial level Group Wise (Pre-Engineering) received their shields and certificates during the ceremony, either in person or through family members in attendance. The SSC level board toppers from AKHSS, Chitral including Aalleen Zeb Sultan S/O Manzoor Ali Shah, first position at provincial level Group wise in SSC-II and overall 1st position at provincial level in SSC-II, and Saqib Murad S/O Haji Murad, 3rd position at provincial level group wise in SSC-II received their awards on the occasion.

The Merit Citation programme began with the soulful recitation of the Holy Quran by Hasan Murtaza of grade-12 followed by Naat Sharif by Saba Hayat of Grade 9. 

Brig (R) Khush Muhammad, General Manager GB&C, spoke on  the objectives of the ceremony, acknowledging and appreciating the efforts and contributions of the organization in academic excellence and community building.

The certificate-distribution ceremony continued for the subject high achievers to acknowledge their dedication and hard work. Tufail Nawaz, principal of AKHSS Chitral, accompanying his students received the certificates to his school\’s subject high achievers, similarly, principals of AKHSS Kuragh Bibi Sultana, and Ms. Saliha Khatoon, Head of AKS Chapali accompanied their students in receiving the certificates.

Mr. Aien Shah, Head of Education, AKES,P shed light on the behavioral learning theory and enlightened the audience and students of the importance of learning by doing.

The event featured a unique talk show hosted by grade-9 student Ayana Javed titled “What Do High Achievers Do Differently?”, featuring high-achieving students Aalleen Zeb, Saqib Murad, and Arifa Khushnood, who shared their experiences and insights.

The Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral congratulated the high achievers and urgef all the students to strive for excellence in their respective fields through persistent hard work.

He opined that in the current scenario development is a product of the broader construct of pluralism, and acceptance of difference in culture and persuasion is key for collective progress.

Musical performance by the school’s musical club members, who took the stage with their soothing performance of a Khowar Kalam energizing the audience and adding a touch of cultural significance to the overall aura of the ceremony.

The Principals of AKHSS, Chitral, Kuragh and AKS Chapali and team received awards from the CEO Mr. Imtiaz Momin for the outstanding performance of their students in annual examination 2024.

President of the occasion Zafaruddin congratulated the high achievers. Mr. Zulfiqar Ali, Senior Manager School Development, expressed gratitude to guests, students and staff.

The event concluded with Allama Muhammad Iqbal\’s celebrated poem, \’Lab Pe Aati Hai Dua\’ by the students of grade 9 making the audience chant along the heartfelt dua.
