BOONI: After visiting Shader in Reshun where the river has washed away houses, private land along with a portion of Chitral-Mastuj road, district administration officials have now started inspecting the destruction of the same road at Greenlasht.
Their visits and instructions issued for remedial steps have not worked so far, however.
A statement issued by the district administration of Upper Chitral on Tuesday said after receiving reports that there was the likelihood of erosion of the Mastuj road by River Yarkhun at Greenlasht, the assistant commissioner Mastuj, on the direction of the deputy commissioner, visited the site.
\”The assistant commissioner directed the NHA that without wasting even a second it should devise a detailed plan so that Chitral-Booni road remains open and there is no danger of its being blocked.\”
Local people have complained that the river eroded away their land and houses due to negligence, poor planning and corruption in the government departments concerned.
