Peshawar, July 2, 2026: The Peshawar High Court on Thursday reviewed the progress of work on road infrastructure projects in Chitral and directed the provincial and federal governments to clarify their positions on pending cases.
In the Mastuj–Broghil Road case, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government reportedly withdrew from its previous stance once again.
However, partitioners’ counsel Shakil Durrani continued to pursue the case, while the court ordered the KP government to present a clear and unequivocal position at the next hearing.
Work on Chitral roads slow & substandard: CJ
Regarding the Chitral–Garam Chashma–Dorah Pass Road, the court directed the federal government to submit its response at the next hearing.
Officials informed the court that work on Section II (Booni) of the Chitral–Shandur Road is expected to be completed by December 2026.
In the Torkhow Road case, the court ordered the relevant authorities to submit a detailed progress report and further accelerate construction work.
Only three representatives from Chitral attended the proceedings: Liaquat Ali Khan, Advocate Syed Burhan Shah and Muhammad Nawab from Garam Chashma.
