CHITRAL: An anti-polio campaign has started in the union council 1 and 2 of Drosh tehsil which will continue till June 23.
The Lower Chitral police on Monday said over 230 police personnel have been deployed to provide security to health department teams taking part in the drive.
During the five-day activity, children under the age of five years would be administered drops to protect them against the crippling disease.
According to the police, besides tightening checking and enhancing vigilance on suspected elements across the area, 238 police officials have been deployed with the 66 polio teams.
The police appealed to parents to help the polio teams in ensuring that no child is left out during the immunization drive.
Chitral has been a polio-free area for about 30 years, as there have been very rare cases of refusal to immunize children by their parents.
