Prince Rahim Aga Khan Wraps Up Landmark Visit to Pakistan

Islamabad, May 26, 2026: His Highness Shah Rahim Al-Hussaini Aga Khan, the 50th Imam of the Ismaili Muslims, concluded his weeklong visit to Pakistan on Tuesday.

He was seen off at Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi near Islamabad by Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and senior officials along with representatives from the Ismaili Imamat institutions.

On the occasion, he was presented with a special photo album featuring memorable moments from his visit to Pakistan.

Prince Rahim Aga Khan Completes Upper Chitral Visit

During the visit, the valuable contributions of the Aga Khan Development Network in Pakistan were widely acknowledged, particularly in the fields of education, healthcare, social welfare and economic development.

Officials appreciated the network’s long-standing role in improving the lives of communities across the country. The government reaffirmed its support for the welfare and development initiatives being carried out under the Aga Khan Development Network and described them as an important contribution to national progress.

Prince Rahim Aga Khan’s visit is expected to further strengthen cooperation, friendship, and development partnership between Pakistan and the Aga Khan Development Network.

Officials said that strong partnerships for shared development, prosperity and public welfare remain key to building a brighter future for the people of Pakistan.

The 50th Imam of the Ismailis granted Didar to his followers at six places in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral. His visit carried significance because it was his first to Pakistan after becoming the 50th Imam following the passing of his father, the 49th Imam, Prince Karim Aga Khan IV in February last year.

The government gave Shah Rahim unprecedented respect and protocol. Upon his arrival in Islamabad on May 20, President Asif Ali Zardari welcomed him at the Nur Khan Airbase.

Prince Rahim Begins Pakistan Visit with State Banquet in Islamabad

The same night, he was honored with a state banquet at the President House attended by the President, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Defence Forces Syed Asim Munir, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, federal ministers and foreign diplomats and others.

The next morning, he was invited to a breakfast by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Imam Shah Rahim Al-Hussaini remained in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral from May 22 to 25 and meet his followers there.

Aga Khan Says Unity Key to Happiness, Strength of Jamat

In his Farman to his followers, the Imam repeatedly stressed the importance of unity within families, among brothers and sisters, extended families and the wider community.

The Imam said when families and communities remain united, they become stronger and happier — and the Imam will also be happy.

His Highness gave special guidance to the youth, saying that the world is passing through challenging times and young people must come forward with confidence and responsibility.

He advised the youth to think globally, understand the changing world, and prepare themselves for the future.
