Islamabad, May 10, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday officially announced that May 10 will be observed every year as Marka-e-Haq Day, commemorating Pakistan’s historic and decisive victory against unprovoked Indian aggression.
The announcement was made during a special ceremony held at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad to mark the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos.
The prime minister stated that India had used the Pahalgam incident as a pretext to level false allegations against Pakistan, but the country exercised utmost restraint. He said Pakistan had issued warnings to India against any form of misadventure and had even offered an impartial international investigation into the incident. However, India chose aggression, attacking mosques, innocent children and civilians under the cover of darkness.
Mr Sharif said the military delivered a historic and befitting response that India will remember forever. He said Pakistan’s Fatah missiles successfully neutralized the enemy’s defence systems, while the Shaheens of the Pakistan Air Force dominated the skies, compelling India to agree to a ceasefire within just four hours.
He paid tribute to the soldiers and officers of Pakistan Army, describing them as the heirs of the blood of martyrs and the custodians of the nation’s proud legacy and traditions. He also acknowledged the sacrifices of mothers who lost their sons defending the homeland and lauded the entire nation for demonstrating unmatched faith, unity, and discipline.
Mr Sharif commended the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu for delivering decisive victories and inflicting heavy losses on India.
The prime minister extended gratitude to friendly nations that supported Pakistan diplomatically during the conflict, particularly acknowledging the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the leadership of China. He also specially commended US President Donald Trump for his timely intervention, which helped prevent further escalation and saved millions of lives.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, Mr Sharif said the country continues its support for Palestinians and the people of Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing that Pakistan’s armed forces remain vigilant and are sacrificing their lives to combat Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan. He expressed confidence that the valiant armed forces will defeat terrorism and eradicate it forever.
The prime minister highlighted the importance of youth as the nation’s most valuable asset, pledging to provide education, skill development, and employment opportunities to empower them. Earlier, a one-minute silence was observed during the ceremony in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the beloved homeland.
