Gilgit, April 11, 2026: The elections for the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly will be held on June 7, 2026.
According to the Election Commission, a notification has been issued confirming the polling date. Chief Election Commissioner Raja Shahbaz Khan made the formal announcement, stating that the elections will be held under the Elections Act 2017 and the GB Order 2018.
The notification has also been forwarded for publication in the official gazette of Pakistan.
The last general elections for the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly were held in November 2020, and the five-year constitutional tenure of the assembly concluded in November 2025, after which the house completed its term.
The Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly consists of 33 seats in total, including 24 general seats, 6 reserved seats for women, and 3 reserved seats for technocrats and professionals.
