where there really two suns in a Russian island

Residents See Two Suns in Sakhalin Island

For as long as human history has been recorded, it has been a fundamental rule of nature that only one sun and one moon appear in the sky every day. However, residents of Sakhalin Island in Russia were left in awe when they witnessed a rare sight — two suns rising simultaneously.

This unusual phenomenon caused quite a stir, and people immediately began recording videos and taking photos of the seemingly impossible sight on their mobile phones.

According to experts, however, the appearance of two suns was an optical illusion. In reality, only one sun was present in the sky. The extreme cold, which had caused tiny ice crystals to form in the atmosphere, reflected the sun’s light in such a way that it appeared as though two suns were rising at once.

Astronomical experts have identified this natural optical phenomenon as a “Sundog,” which occurs when sunlight interacts with ice crystals in the atmosphere, creating the illusion of multiple suns.

At the time this sight was observed, Sakhalin Island was experiencing frigid temperatures, with the mercury dropping to -14°C, and the weather department predicted that temperatures could plunge further to -23°C.
