Eight Pakistani auto mechanics shot dead in Iran

ISLAMABAD: Eight Pakistani nationals working as auto mechanics were shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan province, close to the Afghan border, according to Iranian media reports.

The incident occurred in the Mehrestan area, where the victims were working at a local workshop. Armed assailants reportedly stormed into the workshop, tied up the workers, and then opened fire on them.

Diplomatic sources confirmed that the deceased were Pakistani citizens employed in the region. Iranian authorities have launched an investigation into the attack.

Iranian media further reported that all eight victims hailed from Pakistan’s Punjab province. Five of them have been identified as Jafar, Danish, Nasir, workshop owner Dilshad, and his son Naeem.

Sources said arrangements are being made to repatriate the bodies to Pakistan following legal formalities.
