More judges to end backlog of land dispute cases

PESHAWAR: In a bid to mitigate the backlog of cases related to land disputes and ensure their timely disposal, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur has decided to appoint additional judges in district judiciary.

He made this decision while chairing a progress review meeting of the Board of Revenue held here on Tuesday.

It was decided that additional judges will be appointed in those districts where the pendency of estate related cases was high. The chief minister also decided to introduce GIS technology for identification of land ownership, deciding that initially GIS mapping will be launched as a pilot project in selected districts.

The chief minister also directed for speedy completion of the ongoing computerization of land record emphasizing that the computerization of land records and GIS mapping are the only solutions to land disputes. It is indispensable to complete both tasks as soon as possible, he remarked.

Gandapur directed that Service Delivery Centers should be made operational immediately in all districts where land record computerization has been completed and added that his government will provide all necessary resources for this purpose on a priority basis.

He said the provincial government was working on an agenda to provide maximum facilities to the citizens, so it must be ensured that citizens face no difficulties in getting services.
