Police out to arrest culprits in trans’ video leak case

PESHAWAR: A case has been registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) for the first time in in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, following the viral circulation of a compromised video of a transgender person.
The First Information Report (FIR) was filed at the Hashtnagri police station based on the complaint of the transgender person. According to the complaint, Ayan was abducted at gunpoint in Shabqadar in 2023 by Imran and six of his accomplices.
They took Ayan to a house and made the objectionable video. Later, the video was used to blackmail Ayan.
The complainant said that she discovered the video had gone viral on social media on October 29. The accused persons also allegedly contacted Ayan repeatedly.
Ayan said the video’s release had severely damaged their reputation and the honor of their family. The police are currently hunting for the the arrest of Imran and his six accomplices.
