Govt considering reviewing taxes on employees
ISLAMABAD: As the National Assembly sessions begins to discuss the budget proposals for the fiscal year 2024-25 today, the government is considering reviewing the new taxes imposed on salaried class.
Sources said that the increase proposed in the taxes of government and private sector employees would be reviewed to make it affordable to the salaried class.
The new taxes on the salaries of the employees would be either reduced substantially or totally withdrawn, said the sources.
Moreover, the 25 percent increase in salaries of the government employees would also be made applicable to the employees of the private sector.
The National Assembly session will continue for about two weeks and the house is expected to pass the budget by June 30.
Before the budget session, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the latter would assure Mr Bhutto of removing the reservations of the PPP over the budget proposals.
