Withdrawal of funds for children’s hospital condemned

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Pediatric Association (PPA) has expressed extreme concern and disappointment over the federal government’s decision to withdraw funds for the under-construction Children’s Hospital in Peshawar.
According to sources, the hospital project, which is in its final stages, has been facing delays due to funding issues. The federal government’s decision to withdraw funds has put the project’s completion in jeopardy.
Professor Dr. Muhammad Hussain, President of PPA, termed the decision as “disastrous” for the children of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “There is no dedicated children’s hospital in the province, and patients have to travel to other provinces for treatment,” he said. “The hospital project is crucial and essential for the province, and its completion is being delayed due to funding issues.”
Dr. Hussain urged the government to reverse its decision and provide funding for the hospital’s completion. “We demand that the government restore the funds and ensure the hospital’s completion,” he said. “If the decision is not reversed, we will be forced to take drastic measures, including protests and legal action.
The federal government’s decision has been criticized by many, who see it as a blow to the healthcare sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The hospital project is one of several development projects in the province that have been affected by the government’s decision to withdraw funds.
The PPA has vowed to fight for the rights of children in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and ensure that they receive quality healthcare. “We will not let the government’s decision go unchallenged,” Dr. Hussain said. “We will do everything in our power to ensure that the hospital is completed and that children in the province receive the healthcare they deserve.
