CHITRAL: The construction of a grain godown in Broghil valley of Upper Chitral has been left incomplete for about seven years.
Umar Rafi from Broghil in a statement said the PTI government in Khyber Pakthunkhwa had approved the construction of the godown in Chilmarabad Broghil in the year 2017 at a cost of Rs15 million.
The contract of the project was awarded to a contractor belonging to Dir. However, he sublet the contract to Mr Aftab of Reshun.
He said Chilmarabad is the central point in Broghil with a jeep track already reaching there for transportation of wheat.
The construction of the grain godown was stoped after about 80 per cent work on it was completed, he said.
Mr Rafi said due to absence of a godown, wheat was stored in mud houses in Broghil that leaked in heavy rain, spoiling the commodity.
He warned that if work on the project was not restarted, the people of Broghil would hold protests after Eidul Fitr.
