CHITRAL: A man died after touching live electricity wire lying along the road at Saeedabad in Lower Chitral on Saturday, according to a Rescue 1122 staffer.
The death of the poor man, who was a special person and lived in Saeedabad, led to a protest on the Chitral-Peshawar road. The deceased was identified as Rehmat Karim alias Umda of Chuinj in Upper Chitral.
The protesters put the dead body on the road and chanted slogans against PESCO and other government departments for their negligence that led to the death of the man.
They said the authorities concerned had repeatedly been requested to fix the wires or remove them from the roadside, but none one cared.
The protesters dispersed after district administration and police officials reached the spot and assured them that action would be taken over the incident.
