DC suspends over 30 officials for inefficiency
CHITRAL: Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral Mohammad Imran Khan has surrendered the services of additional deputy commissioner (relief) Ubaidullah and the executive engineer of the communication and works department to the provincial government and suspended 31 Patwaris, including tehsildar settlement, over their inefficiency during the heavy snowfall that caused widespread disruption to life.
In a letter written to the relevant authorities, the deputy commissioner complained that in the wake of the incessant snowfall for three days starting from March 1, which blocked roads, disrupted power supply, landline telephone and internet services, the officers concerned were tasked with restoring the communication infrastructure in specified geographical areas.
However, the officers utterly failed to discharge their assigned duties, as a result of which, the public suffered tremendously, and it also created a bad impression about the local administration’s performance.
In the face of their inefficiency, the deputy commissioner said, the services of the officers were no more required in the district.
On public complaints, the DC later suspended 31 Patwaris and the tehsildar of settlement for their inefficiency during the snowfall and later for their failure to report the damages to the DC office. The DC has also appointed the assistant commissioner to conduct an inquiry and file a report in three days for departmental action against the Patwaris.
