Snowfall ends prolonged dry spell
BOONI: Snowfall started in Chitral after a prolonged dry spell on Sunday, removing fears about a possible drought among the local people.
According to the deputy commissioner of Chitral Upper, almost all parts 9f the district received light snowfall.
Lower Chitral also received snowfall but all roads across the two districts were open. Snowfall continued in and around the Lowari tunnel but there was no interruption to traffic between Chitral and Dir.
The Met Office in Islamabad has forecast rain and snowfall in Chitral and other areas of Upper Khyber Pakthunkhwa till January 31.
The whole country had been in the grip of a dry spell as there was no rain since early November 2023.
