Independent candidate killed in Wazirstan

NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Unknown persons killed an independent candidate and injured a candidate of the PML-N in separate incidents as the Feb 8 general elections approached.

In an attack in Turbat, Balochistan, PML-N candidate for NA 258 Aslam Buledi was attacked and injured by unknown people.

Police in North Wazirstan said independent candidate Malik Kaleem Ullah was targeted in Tappi area by the armed persons. Two persons accompany Malik also lost their lives.

Malik was an independent candidate for PK 104 constituency of the Khyber Pakthunkhwa assembly.

Target killings and terror attacks have risen in KP and Balochistan provinces in the recent months.

This morning, armed people attacked a checkpost near Kohat and killed three policemen.

On Jan 8, a vehicle carrying policemen for deployment with polio workers was attacked in Bajaur in which five police personnel and one other person were killed.

On Jan 9, two police officials guarding a polio team were shot dead by armed persons in Kohat.

Repeated attacks on security personnel have also raised suspicions about the holding of the Feb 8 general elections in the country.
