CHITRAL: The Lower Chitral police during a ‘search and strike operation’ arrested a woman wanted in a case registered against her and others a year ago in which she was absconding.
The search operation was conducted in Kochangol, Baradam and nearby areas keeping in view the prevailing security situation and in order to search for suspected people, according to a spokesman for the police.
The search operation was conducted under the supervision of subdivisional police officer (SDPO) Drosh, Iqbal Karim.
During the operation, the woman identified as Noorina Bibi, wife of Muhammad Usman, resident of Ashiret, was arrested.
The case was registered against the woman and others on November 25, 2022, under section 496-A (enticing or taking away or detaining with criminal intent a woman) and section 365-B (carrying away of a woman by any means with an aim that she may be compelled to marriage or forced or made to illicit intercourse, against her will) of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
Lower Chitral police carry out search and strike operations on a regular basis in areas close to the Afghan border to keep a close eye on suspicious people, especially after the incursion of terrorists into Chitral from Afghanistan on September 6 in which five Jawans of Chitral Scouts were martyred.
