CHITRAL: The Shuhada-e-Chitral Football Premier League arranged by the district administration of Lower Chitral and Frontier Corps North concluded with a grand function here today.
Inspector General Frontier Corps North Major General Noor Wali Khan was chief guest on the occasion.
In a poignant gesture, the families of Chitral’s martyrs were invited to take part in the festivities allowing the community to pay their heartfelt respects. Over a span of thrilling matches, 20 teams hailing from various districts of KP competed passionately in the Football Premier League that commenced on October 10.
The final match was a face-off between Peshawar FC and Goldur FC Chitral. In a fierce contest, Goldur FC emerged victorious, edging out Peshawar FC with a score of one goal to zero.
The chief guest presented medals, trophies and cash prizes to the outstanding teams and players.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, “This tournament’s primary aim is to pay homage to the martyrs of Chitral, individuals who laid down their lives to secure peace in the region. The entire nation holds these martyrs in high regard and pays its heartfelt tributes.”
