UN failed to protect Palestinian Muslims, says JI chief

CHITRAL: While Israel continued its air strikes on civilian population in Gaza, killing thousands of people, including children, the United Nations (UN) failed to fulfill its mandate of protecting the people of Palestine and maintaining peace only because the affected people were Muslims.

This was stated by Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq while addressing a workers’ convention in Chitral on Thursday. He said over 6,000 bombs and 4,000 tonnes of explosives were dropped on the helpless Muslims of Giza strip in less than week.

It is unfortunate that due to Israeli aggression, small children are being killed and those alive are facing great hardship due to unavailability of water and milk.  Israel has besieged the Muslims for the last 16 years. Currently, more than three million troops are deployed within the wall of Gaza.

Haq said at this time the Muslim Ummah needs a leader like Hazrat Umar Farooq. He urged all Muslims to cooperate with each other as Jews and anti-Islamist elements had joined hands against the Muslims.

JI district chief Maulvi Jamshed, former member National Assembly Abdul Akbar Chitrali, former district nazim Maghfirat Shah and Maulvi Hidayatullah also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, Haq inaugurated a religious seminary for female students in Goldur. He also addressed the party workers in Drosh.
