BOONI: District and sessions judge Upper Chitral Amjad Hussain convicted a man for killing his 60-year-old woman relative and attempting to murder two others, including his wife, in Bang village of Yarkhoon valley two years ago.
In a short order, the judge awarded life term with rigorous imprisonment to Junaid Akbar, son of Sardar Khan, declaring that the prosecution has “abundantly” proved allegations against him.
He added that the defence counsel neither rebutted the overwhelming prosecution evidence nor did he offer substantial defence for his client.
“The accused on trial is found guilty of the crimes punishable under sections 302, 324, 334, 337-D and 337-F of the Pakistan Penal Code for murdering Taighoon alias Khoshthan Bibi and attempting to murder his wife, Shahzeba Bibi, and mother-in-law Salima Bibi on February 5, 2021,” the court declared.
It also imposed three years rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs1 million on the convict to be paid to the legal heirs of the deceased and one-third of Rs6.758 million diyat to Salima Bibi, who suffered abdominal injury, besides one-tenth of the blood money over amputation of her right thumb.
The court also awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment on two counts with a fine of Rs20,000 to the convict. The jail terms will begin concurrently.
