Work on Lawi power project resumes after nine months
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has resumed construction work on the 69 megawatt Lawi Hydropower project near Drosh in Lower Chitral.
Construction work on the project was stopped for the past nine months due some security and financial issues. Provincial Secretary Energy and Power Nisar Ahmad Khan visited Lawi project sites in Chital.
On this occasion, he said due to security reasons, Secretary Khan directed contractors, consultants and field staff to make all-out efforts to complete the project as it was already stalled for several months. He said the provincial government has resolved the security and financial issues and Chinese engineers have also returned, therefore, further delay is unacceptable.
According to the KP Power and Energy Department, Chinese engineers working on various projects left the country after the deadly attack in Kohistan due to which the work on many projects was stopped for several months.–Pakistan Today
