Volunteers start reopening blocked Yarkhun road

BANG: While the whole Chitral is still reeling under the devastation of floods, volunteers in Yarkhun have started reopening the blocked road to the remote valley.

The flooding in nullahs and the river Yarkhun has devastated a number of villages and washed away the road, ChitralToday correspondent reported.

In order to ensure access to the affected areas the volunteers have started removing blockades from the Yarkhun road.

\"VolunteersThey are using machinery borrowed from private contractors to remove boulders from the road and rebuilding damaged bridges on streams.

The volunteers told ChitralToday that the road from Brep to Sholkoch would be reopened by Tuesday.

They said the road was reopened up to Bang on Sunday and the blockades were removed in Pavur village on Monday.

The local people appreciated the volunteers for reopening the road but regretted that so far no government department had even visited the area to assess the damages caused by the floods.

  1. God bless all the volunteers and their families for their selfless and purely humanitarian services. No compensation can match the reward in the shape of the pleasure of God the Almighty and sustainer of His creation.
