10 families rendered homeless in remote village

YARKHUN: At least 10 families have become homeless after gushing water from the flooded river Yarkhun started flowing in the middle of their small village in Pavur.

The flow of the river was blocked after flash floods in a nullah in Dewser village, situated across the river, hampered its way.

As a result, a dam started building up and the river overflew and hit Pavur Biyar village.

The affected families have been sheltered in tents provided by Aga Khan Agency for Habitat (AKAH) while other houses in the area are also likely to be hit by the river.

Flash and river flooding has wrecked havoc different areas across Chitral, including killing four people in Shishi Koh valley of Lower Chitral.

Many areas in Upper Yarkhun are also reported to have been devastated by flash floods.
