Protesters refuse way to ambulance carrying coffin
KOGHUZI: A larger number of people here on Friday did not give way to an ambulance carrying the dead body of a man to Upper Chitral from Peshawar.
The protest was held on the Chitral-Mastuj road by people of Koghuzi against power outages even after the completion of the 108 megawatt Golen Gol powerhouse in the same area.
The protesters, including women, blocked the road near the powerhouse for the whole day causing hardship for the travellers.
They even did not allow an ambulance carrying the dead body of a man to proceed to Upper Chitral.
A woman accompanying the dead body said her brother passed away in Peshawar on Thursday and they were carrying the coffin to their village in Upper Chitral but the protesters did not allow them to cross the blockade on the road.
The body was later carried by some people of n their shoulders to the other side of the protest side and taken away in another vehicle.
Hundreds of vehicles carrying passengers including women, children and elderly persons remained stuck on both sides for over 10 hours.
The district administration did not bother to hold talks with the protesters or get the road open.
