RESHUN: The Chitral-Mastuj road was blocked at Reshun after river Yarkhun started eroding land and houses at Shader area of Reshun on Friday.
About 13 families were affected in the fresh erosion that the river started when its volume increased with fast melting of glaciers upstream.
Earlier in the day, people living in the area were evacuated before the river eroded away their houses and land.
MPA Hidayatur Rehman visited the area and assured the locals that the government would reconstruct the road and make payment of compensation for their losses.
Later, the district administration said the road had been blocked to avoid any disaster as it was being cut off.
As a result, the whole district of Upper Chitral has been cut off from rest of the country through the Lower Chitral road.–Sher Afgan Raza
