New tehsil, village council chairmen take oath in Upper Chitral
CHITRAL: Newly-elected chairmen of Tehsil Council Mastuj and Torkhow/Mulkhow and village councils took oath at a function held in Booni on Monday.
The election of the local government was held on March 31 in which PTI won three out of the four tehsil council chairmen’s slots in Lower and Upper Chitral.
These included the tehsil councils of Mastuj and Torkhow/Mulkhow. The PPP won the slot of tehsil council Drosh chairman in Lower Chitral.
At the function today, Deputy Commissioner Upper Chitral Manzoor Ahmed Afridi administered oath to the tehsil council chairmen while village council chairmen were administered the oath by Assistant Commissioner Shah Adnan.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner said Upper Chitral was a new district and the elected members of the local would have a key role in its development.
He said bureaucracy and political representatives should work in close coordination to resolve public issues.
