PESHAWAR: The students federation from the erstwhile FATA held a protest outside Peshawar press club on Thursday against the abolition of six National Assembly seats in the area.
They said it is very cruel to remove the seats of National Assembly of the tribal districts without conducting a fresh census.
The list of constituencies recently issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan is a total injustice, they said.
According to the new delimitation, the Election Commission has abolished six National Assembly seats in the newly-merged tribal districts.
A case is also pending in the High Court regarding census. Until the decision is taken, every decision of the Election Commission will be considered null and void. If our demands are no met, a peaceful sit-in will be called in front of the Election commission office.
At the same time, we will challenge this illegal move of the Election Commission in the Supreme Court, said the protesters.
