Rain in Chitral ends dry spell

CHITRAL: Rain in Chitral ended the dry spell that had gripped the valley, creating shortage of water in many areas.

Locals told ChitralToday that the rain started on Monday night and continued with intervals when this report was filed on Tuesday afternoon.

There were reports of heavy to moderate fall in different parts of both Lower and Upper Chitral.

The Met Office in Islamabad had already forecast rain/thunderstorm in northern areas of Pakistan with chances of landsliding and flooding in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral.

According to the Met Office, Drosh received 13 millimetres of rain in the last 24 hours. It predicted rain and thunderstorm in the next 25 hours as well.

Reports showed that streams in different villages across Chitral were flooding after the rain, however, there was no report of road blockades or damages to properties.–Muhkam Uddin Ayuni
