Strike by Islamia College University faculty, staff continues

PESHAWAR: A strike launched on the call of the Joint Action Committee of Islamia College University entered its sixth day on Thursday, demanding an increase in their salaries.
In this regard, faculty and staff members on Thursday gathered adjacent to the vice chancellor office. All the employees wore black armbands to register their protest against the management for not accepting their demand of increase in salaries as announced by the government for all employees.
President Teaching Association Islamia College Dr Izhar Ahmad appreciated the unity and solidarity of the employees who responded positively to the protest call for their rights.
Zafar Ali , one of the representatives of the staffers, while talking to ChitralToday said the voice chancellor has failed to solve the employees’ issues forcing them to go on a strike due to which the schedule of exams have been postponed.
“We demand that the chief minister and governor KP should take notice of the issue otherwise our strike will continue,” he added.
