Two bike riders crushed to death by taxi jeep

MASTUJ: Two persons, including a policeman, riding a motorcycle were crushed to death by a taxi land cruiser in Gazandok near Mastuj early on Monday. 

Local sources told ChitralToday that Niat Wali, a taxi driver, was taking passengers from Laspur to Booni when he entered into some arguments with them after reaching Mastuj. The passengers took the driver to the Mastuj police station where one of the passengers identified as Abdul Jahan gave an undertaking for him.

Once they came out of the police station, the driver again exchanged harsh words with the passengers.

When the matter was reported back to the police, the SHO ordered arrest of the driver but the latter escaped towards Chuinj. A police official, Mubarak Khan, along with Abdul Jahan then chased the taxi on a bike.

When they intercepted the land cruiser at Gazandok, the driver instead of stopping ran over the two persons on the bike who died on the spot.  

The taxi driver did not stop and fled northward. Later, he was arrested by the police in Kargin village.
