Upper Chitral protesters assail govt for chronic power crisis

CHARUN: A protest meeting was held in Charun on Wednesday against the unending power crisis in Upper Chitral, especially in Booni, headquarters of the new district.

Upper Chitral protesters assail govt for chronic power crisisThe participants of the protest meeting arranged by Tehreek Huqooq-e-Awam said due to the callous attitude of the government and failure of the MPA and MNA the public was suffering in the absence of electricity for over six years now.

They said the situation went form bad to worse after Upper Chitral was declared a new district. Now even the share of Upper Chitral in electricity was not being given to the area.

Speaking on the occasion, Tehreek president Mukhtar Lal, Shah Wazir Lal, Muhammad Pervez Lal, Amirullah, Rehmat Salam, Shamsur Rehman and others said despite announcement the government also failed to install a separate grid station for Upper Chitral to resolve the power crisis.

They said a public protest would be held at Booni Chowk on Feb 2. The speakers warned that if the issue was not resolved within two weeks, they would hold a protest rally towards Chitral and stage a sit-in at Golen Gol power station.
