CHITRAL: The victims of the PIA plane crash were remembered on the fourth anniversary of the incident here on Monday.
On Dec 7, 2016, PK-661 crashed near Havelian while going to Islamabad from Chitral, killing all the 47 people, including the crew, on board.
The victims included then deputy commissioner of Chitral Osama Ahmad Waraich and singer-turned preacher Junaid Jamshed.
At a gathering in Osama Shaheed Park in Denin, a contingent of Chitral Levies and police paid guard of honour to all the martyrs and laid wreaths on a monument in the presence of government officials.
Later, an event was held at the town hall where speakers paid tributes to all those who lost their lives in the incident. Chitral Scouts Commandant Col Ali Zafar was chief guest on the occasion.
The deceased DC’s maternal uncle Zulfiqar Ahmed Cheema and Junaid Jamshed’s widow Razia Jamshed also addressed the gathering via telephone.–Bashir Hussain Azad
